This story is called The Bowmen by Arthur Machen and was printed in the Evening News in September 1914.
The outdoor recording of the premiere performance for local people was made, as part of the First World War centenary, on 1st June 2014 in the Market Place, Diss, Norfolk.
The event was called “Over the Top”, produced by Basil Abbott of Diss Museum. The story reading was by Richard Gibson, 'Herr Flick' of 'Allo, Allo!'
Audio samples co-ordination was by Clive Davies of Sonic Zone; sound effects and composition by Yoshi Shinagawa-Turner of Diss Corn Hall.
WWI sound effects include: artillery, a 1916 Tank, an 8 inch gun, Vickers gun and rifles.
Also the songs of WWI, such as Keep the Home Fires Burning and Roses of Picardy.
The editing and mastering are from a multi-track recording to the audible file format.
