Rejected Ambient Works : only analog sources used to create these sounds. 

One analog synthesizer running through guitar pedals, into a guitar amp. 
Mic run to same guitar amp. 
The pre-amp out was run to the line-in of a laptop. 
 The laptop was only used to record the song. 
Song was played live. No mixing or multi-tracking.
 Only open source software was used. Linux Mint OS. Audacity for recording and encoding. GIMP for design. Firefox web browser. Hell, the laptop itself was pulled out of an office depot dumpster
